Old days will become history
Hi there folks, wanted to share an e-mail with you from the Libsyn base, where this podcast adventure once started back in 2005 …
It boils down to the files hidden behind Seasons 1-9 (plus some other loose files due to various storage improvisations over the years). I’ve been paying $5 a month for this since I left the podcast publishing platform, so that would have been around 2015. No files have been added since then, only the retention of the previous seasons.
Today I received an email from Libsyn: a 60% price increase coming. Here’s the reason:
“This change helps us continue delivering features that grow your audience and earning potential, while expanding the tools you already have access to, like Multi-user Management, Automatic Podcast Ads, PodRoll, integrated YouTube publishing, and the entire Libsyn publishing platform”
That last part really captures the imagination! Don’t you think? Access to the platform!
If you ask me, a bit of a nonsense here and there. Don’t get me wrong, it was fantastic to be able to use a storage server for 5 dollars a month for the past 10 years. But they also need to see that not a single bit of data traffic from me has gone to Libsyn since 2015, no publishing took place, no login even, pure drifting on ‘storage’. Storage of the same old files. So raising your price by 60% really hits me hard…
I’ve ventured an email in response to this price increase, asking if this is really necessary for people like me. If the answer is yes, which I unfortunately expect, then I’ll be forced to take the old seasons offline. Or rather: they will simply no longer be available starting in January.
It might just be me, but it’s a bit frustrating to have to read an email like that in December. Is this their idea of a Christmas present?
If you haven’t yet sorted out all the files from the older Spacemusic seasons, you still have this month to download them. Starting in January 2026 Spacemusic Seasons 1-9 will no longer be available.
If Libsyn wants to reinstate the price change, I’ll get back to you. But something tells me they’re determined.
You can find Season 1-9 on the Spacemusic website:

Cheers for now,

This is what we call BS in here in the states…so sorry to hear this TC. I made sure to go grab all the seasons and download them locally! I still enjoy the shows and it’s interesting how your voice has mellowed over time. Keep up the good work my friend.

BS 🙂 These are the times I know. We should clean the mess by saying ‘no’ and make the much needed change happening.
