16.10 Deep Dish Delight (2024)
Today’s show is the second visit in the past … we go back in time and listen to a beautiful mix of cinematic, progressive and typical electronic tunes that made this station big! Just after Apple added the ‘podcast’ functionality to iTunes.
We shot up in the number of listeners, from a tight 100 to well over 4000 downloads per show. After that, however, it really took off with over 20,000 downloads per episode. The music is exceptionally powerful, even now. In fact: if you listen carefully, there were very smart people 20 years ago who knew very well how ‘question and answer’ works in music and why the tunes stick in our brains. Nowadays, this is different. More about this later.
Now sit back and enjoy this audio spectacle in a nonstop jacket, remastered, recompressed, sublime, except for a small harmonic overload distortion in the first track that could not be repaired. Can you forgive me, I hope?
Ft. Cliff Martinez, Mosaik, Spielerei, RymdLego, Jason Corder, Artemis, ENV(itre), Ascian, Mikael Fyrek.
Deep Dish Delight 2024 remastered edition, mixed by TC, August 13th 2005.
For this edition of Sessions, I took a few long walks in and around the city of Rotterdam. I took the metro from Zuidplein towards Centraal, got off at Wilhelminaplein, and had an adventure with escalators and passages. My goal was to make a recording on the escalator in the Maastunnel, a pedestrian tunnel; I will take you deep into the tunnel and along the wall full of impressive photos of how Rotterdam used to be.
Imagine a place you’ve been, where you’ve seen beautiful things, heard brilliant music, recorded as a podcast and now available again in sublime audio quality like never heard before. Back to the year 2006. A unique time – when podcasting was brand new and for our listeners a hi-tech event. Can’t sleep at night? No problem! Listen to Spacemusic 16.09 ‘Insomnia’ and transport yourself back in time, with the knowledge of today and with a timeless view …. a sound phenomenon to spin forever!
